T LNT (Chapter 9) Some new technologies that were introduced in this chapter are Multimedia Technologies such as, podcasts and PowerPoint presentations. I am familiar with PowerPoints as I have created many and most professors use them when teaching. This is a multimedia presentation software system that gives its viewers text, data and images on a slideshow. A great feature of this tool is you can write notes on your slides that are only visible to only you which is great when making presentations and you forget what you want to say. Podcasts are audio recordings (some include video) in which teachers can use educational topics in their lesson as an auditory tool to enhance a lesson. Teachers can record a discussion and students can listen to that lecture at a later time to assist in completing assignments or study for an exam. Students can also generate their own podcasts for essays assigned or any class projects they may be working on. Students are sometime hesitant usin...

TLNT Chapter 6 Virtual field trips and interactive videoconferencing are two topics that stood out to me in this chapter.  Having the opportunity to have virtual field trips in the classroom are great way to help students make the connection to a topic being taught.  Students can stay in the comfort of their classroom and connect with popular destinations like Colonial Williamsburg and the Baseball Hall of Fame.  This type of activity allows students to take the concepts taught and have a visual representation which fosters learning. This is a great opportunity for those students who may not be able to afford a school trip and may have a disability that causes them not to participate. Interactive videoconferencing works hand in hand with virtual field trips.  This offers real-time access to individuals and places that students may not be able to visit.  For ex. another country or the military.  This allows interactions amongst the class and the site. ...

TLNT- Chapter 4 When reading this chapter what stood out to me was Technology and Change in Your Future Classroom.  This section helps me as a future teacher to learn about different forms of technology and how to incorporate this into my practice.  Three new tools that I have never been exposed to are digital pens, digital notebooks and electronic class notes.  I am surprised to learn about the digital pen.  This device records when an individual writes or speaks which can then be transferred onto a computer in typed form that can be edited, saved and emailed. This device could be used in so many classrooms today and I can name a few students in my class who could use it.  This section gives teachers tips for  using these devices which can make taking observation notes much easier,  but I immediately thought of how students can utilize this in the classroom. I'm not sure if this would be a good thing since this takes away from students writing and le...
