TLNT- Chapter 8
This chapter focuses on the many ways that both students and teachers can to communicate by using technology both in and out of the classroom. Some of these include email, instant messaging, teacher or classroom websites, blogs, online discussions and wikis. Given this large variety the teacher must experiment to see which is the best fit for her classroom needs. This allows the teacher, students and classmates to be in constant contact with each other which fosters learning. In the world we live in today, children are glued to their phones. When the teacher utilizes technology with their students they extend the learning environment outside of the class, offers students to never miss an assignment and allow them to use the device that is relevant to them. Overall this chapter provides many helpful hints for us as educators to incorporate to make learning easy and available.

I agree with you when you state that the teacher needs to see which forms of technology best fit the classroom needs. Every classroom and every group of students is different. It is important to look at student interests and apply that to the classroom. Some students may enjoy playing educational games, while others prefer videos.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that this chapter gave alot of helpful ideas for us as educators to use on a daily basis. Your'e right when you say that kids are glued to their phones and all other types of technology, so utilizing social media in and out of the classroom will definitely benefit the students and provide them with outlets to keep up to date with all of their class work, and assignments.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you when you stated that students are "glued to their phone" this is the perfect opportunity to use technology. Phones have so many features that create reminders to complete assignment as well as searching the internet for additional information. Students can easily review assignment instructions, an instructional video and additional research for their class.
ReplyDeleteI agree that by utilizing technology, students are able to be up to date with their deadlines, assignments, projects and homeworks. Since students are always using their phones, you can turn this into a benefit by having them use their phone in class to answer questions such as using Kahoot.
