Stages of Technology Integration is what caught my attention when reading this chapter. This is not an easy process as there are several steps associated to this:
- The entry stage or substitution stage
- The adoption stage
- Adaptation
- Appropriation
- Invention
However, there are challenges when integrating technology into the classroom.
- Teaching style and administration support.
- Unwillingness to change favorite lesson plans.
- Reluctance to use technology in new lesson plans.
- Rewards and punishments.
- Ad-on to other activities.
- Use of technology to separate students by ability groups.
There are pros and cons to everything. As an educator you can begin the process slowly and use what you think works best.
It really resonated with me when you said, "there are pros and cons to everything." I feel the most difficult part about being a teacher is figuring out what works best for you and your class. However, a teacher may have multiple classes and what works best in one may not work best in another. It is important that teachers take their students and classroom environment into consideration when thinking of ways to implement and integrate tech into their classroom.
ReplyDeleteI feel it is important to consider what the student's needs are before deciding how to include technology. It is important for students to fully understand the curriculum before thinking about how to include technology.
ReplyDeleteHi Kristine,
ReplyDeleteI agree integrating technology has its pros and cons, which teachers need to be aware of. In response, teachers can assess what works best by testing certain technological tools and devices with different classes.
